Aneesh Chopra

Aneesh Chopra is the former (and first) U.S. Chief Technology Officer. As an Assistant to the President, he designed the National Wireless Initiative, helped launch Startup America and executed an "open innovation" strategy across the government built on private sector collaboration. He is the author of the forthcoming book, Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government, focused on how we can tap entrepreneurial problem solvers to address challenges in health, energy and education markets among other public and regulated sectors.

Chopra is currently the co-founder and executive vice president of Hunch Analytics, a startup focused on improving the productivity of public and regulated sectors of the economy through data analytics. In 2011, Chopra was named to Modern Healthcare's list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare (#39) and in 2008, to Government Technology magazine's Top 25 in their Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers issue.

Upon his departure, President Obama noted, "As the federal government's first Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra ... found countless ways to engage the American people using technology, from electronic health records for veterans, to expanding access to broadband for rural communities, to modernizing government records. His legacy of leadership and innovation will benefit Americans for years to come, and I thank him for his outstanding service."

About the Opening Keynote: "Open Data, IT and Value-Based Payment: The (Bipartisan) Approach to Health-Care Delivery Reform"

As the debate over the future of the Affordable Care Act rages in Washington, one set of reforms continues unabated: the movement to transform the way we deliver health care. As the first U.S. chief technology officer, Aneesh Chopra worked to align payment reform with advances in health IT and to shift to open more government-held health data—changes that are ushering in a golden era of IT-fueled care delivery innovation.

In this presentation, Chopra:

  • Reviews recent efforts to open up data across electronic health records, payers, and the government to foster a growing ecosystem of tech-enabled services that are tackling waste and boosting care quality
  • Explains how these efforts have helped consumers take a more active role in navigating the health care delivery system and making better decisions at each step of their care journey

Jeff GlasbrennerJeff Glasbrenner

Jeff Glasbrenner’s opportunity in life came on July 30, 1980, when he was eight years old. On that day, Jeff was involved in a traumatic farming accident, leaving him a below-the-knee amputee. Most would call this a tragedy, but Jeff chose to embrace it by continually excelling in the athletic world – specifically wheelchair basketball, triathlons, and mountaineering.

In wheelchair basketball, Jeff is a three-time Paralympian and a two-time World Champion. He has completed 25 long-distance triathlons, each consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and 26.2-mile run. In 2010, 30 years after losing his leg, Jeff finished eight triathlons in eight months.

On May 18, 2016, Jeff achieved his greatest goal yet, when he became the first American amputee to reach the summit of Mount Everest. His next challenge is to climb the remaining “Seven Summits”: the highest peaks of each of the seven continents.

Outside of athletics, Jeff is dedicated to being a husband, and a father to his two children.

The Water CoolersThe Water Coolers

For nearly 15 years, The Water Coolers have entertained audiences around the world, as far-reaching as Singapore and Australia, with their high energy, uncommonly funny, honest take on work and life. Smartphones, conference calls, kids, co-workers, and travel are just a few of the topics this group of top NYC talent turns into hilarious sketch comedy and song. They are one of the few acts to win Event Solutions magazine’s Spotlight Awards for Entertainment of the Year multiple times.

Their writing team mixes professional comedy writers with people working in the "real world" to deliver an authentic and funny take on work. The team is headed up by one of the creators of New York's longest-running comedy hit ever, "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" whose other comedy credits include numerous appearances on The Conan O'Brien Show, and voicing Peanut on the Cartoon Network's cult hit, "Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law," also starring Stephen Colbert and Gary Cole.

The performing cast is made up of New York professionals with resumes including top comedy clubs like Igby's, the Improv, the Comic Strip, and the Icehouse as well as many Broadway production including Gloria Estefan's "On Your Feet," "Jersey Boys," Carole King's "Beautiful," "Dear Evan Hansen," “Wicked,” “Rock of Ages,” “Legally Blonde”, “The Adams Family,” “Chicago,” “Hair”, “Pippin”, “In The Heights ,” “Les Miserables,” “Mamma Mia,” and "The Boy From Oz" with Hugh Jackman.


About the Closing Keynote: "Getting to Great Performance"

The focus of the keynote is, "Getting to Great Performance," and is designed to help people recognize issues in the workplace and then provide tactics to avoid or manage issues related to personal and team performance. The Water Coolers will deliver information and practical techniques in four areas:
  1. Facing fear to innovate. The goal of this content is to help professionals recognize when fear is standing in their way and take steps to address the physical state fear can create so they can take the risks that help them find new solutions and ways of doing things.
  2. Collaborative listening. The content and illustrations in this segment focus on effective listening and helping professionals recognize the destructive habits that undermine listening.
  3. Focus. This segment helps participants to understand the productivity impact of distraction, the ubiquity of distraction in modern life and work, and provides techniques to shut distraction out so they can concentrate on accomplishing goals.
  4. Commitment. The final content point is about perseverance and, essentially, grit. Participants learn about how the brain adapts to failure in a way that enables future success. Participants should be able to better value obstacles and frustrations as tools to accomplish great performance for the long term.
