2019 Call for Abstracts

The American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA), is currently accepting educational abstracts for ASHHRA19. Attendees are looking for timely, innovative, engaging and health care-specific education. This is your opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with health care HR leaders.

ASHHRA HR Leader ModelConference abstracts should reflect sound adult learning principles and reflect the best practices in the field, informed by theory, research and practice. Abstracts should also align with ASHHRA’s five HR Leader Model competencies. To deliver exceptional learning experiences, preference may be given to abstracts that are positioned to deliver a mix of the following:

CONTENT:

  • Reflect innovative, cutting-edge content and evidence-based practice
  • Explore issues important to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrate relevance of lessons through “real life” case studies

PRESENTATION DESIGN:

  • Stimulate and provoke discussion
  • Audience engagement and outcome-focused design
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer

AUDIENCE:

  • Human resources professionals in the field of health care who are new to the profession, mid-level or executive level
  • The audience represents health care networks, hospitals and other care providers.

Presentation Formats

  • Preconference: 1.15 - 1.45-hour workshop
  • Concurrent Learning Session: 60-minute presentation
  • Hot Topic Roundtable: 1 - 1.5-hour presentation
  • Debate: 60-minute presentation
  • Rapid Fire: 15-minute presentation

Selection Measures

All completed submissions will be reviewed by the Annual Conference Committee. Selected abstracts will be measured on the following categories: Organization, Learning Outcomes and Outline, Research/Case Studies, Implementable and Innovative Solutions. Additional key influencers include ASHHRA membership, topics that address emerging trends, and content for both rural and urban health systems.

If chosen as a speaker, you agree to:

  • Use ASHHRA’s conference themed PowerPoint template for presentations
  • Have open availability between Sept. 21-24, 2019
  • Adhere to the presentation best practices guidelines
  • Audio/video recording
  • Be the primary contact for conference communications sent by or on behalf of ASHHRA for both primary and co-presenters


Important Dates

ASHHRA strives to host an informative annual conference for our attendees. A vital component of a well-planned conference is adhering to timelines for efficiency. We ask that you provide as much information as possible to assist in the decision-making process.

  • Jan. 7: Call for abstracts closes 5:00 p.m. CT
  • Feb. 15 - 22: Speaker notifications sent by ASHHRA
    Accepting the invitation confirms your commitment to attend the meeting and present
  • April 1: Rough draft of presentation due to ASHHRA
  • June 3: Last day to add/change co-presenters
  • Aug. 2:* Final presentations due, no exceptions

Please make note of these dates. If your presentation will contain newly founded information or research not yet determined, you will need to speak on the newly founded information during your presentation or print handouts for attendees as we will not accept presentations beyond Aug. 2.

* If we have not received the requested materials by the deadline date, ASHHRA reserves the right to secure another presenter.
